Hill will tell the secrets of how she started her Kathleen Hill Culinary Collection with gifts she bought for her mother, progressed to her first cracker tin (and 60 more from around the world), her original $3 price limit, and how the collection grew to 3,000 pieces—a true people’s collection of old kitchen tools that last forever. Every utensil has a story.

About the speaker:
Hill is Curator of the Kathleen Thompson Hill Culinary Collection, Food & Wine Editor and weekly columnist of the Sonoma Index-Tribune, host of “The Kathleen Hill Show” on KSVY-91.3 FM (ksvy.org), and teaches The Politics & History of Food & Wine at Sonoma State University. She is also a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier (San Francisco chapter), of La Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, and a Compagnon of the Guilde Internationale des Fromagers. She spent most weekdays for seven years with M.F.K. Fisher, including the day she passed away.What is it?

Parking: The main entrance to the Library’s parking garage on Flower Street is intermittently closed due to street construction. In the event this entrance is closed, the parking garage can be accessed via Grand Avenue, past the loading dock. Parking in this lot is only $1 with LAPL validation.
